Albert Burney Auction Company, Gadsden, Ala., managed the sale. Bidders came from Florida, Michigan, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Alabama for the hour-long bidding contest, in which Todd Tumbleson, of Leawood, Kan., emerged as the winner. "In a slow real estate market like this one, it's remarkable to have 10 people lined up to compete for any kind of property, so we're very happy with the outcome," said Warren Ward, president of Albert Burney. "With a specialized property like this, it was important to cast a wide net, so having bidders from as far away as Florida and Michigan lets us know we did our job. "Mr. Tumbleson owns several other hunting properties, and from what I understand, he plans to use this as a private hunting club," said Ward. The property yielded a harvest of 927 ducks and 574 Canadian geese in 2007 and was featured by hunting legend Jeff Foiles in his new "Fallin' Skys V" video.

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--A canal-front home with its own deep-water dock sold for $1.3 million Tuesday in an auction that attracted 21 registered bidders, some of whom came from as far away as Russia, Canada and Venezuela. The auction had drawn widespread attention, with 76 prospective buyers touring the home in the days leading up to the auction, according to Warren Ward, president of Albert Burney Auction Company, which managed the sale. Purchasing the home was an investment professional from New York. “You have to feel good about attracting so much attention in an overcrowded market. We count 23 homes for sale within a two-block radius of the one we sold today, and I’m sure they haven’t had anything like the traffic this one received. The auction enabled us to attract prospective buyers to this one and get it sold,” said Ward.

URBANA, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Twenty-six student condominiums in the Capstone Quarters development sold at auction Saturday for a total of $2.5 million, with Albert Burney Auction Company managing the sale. A crowd of over 100 gathered under a tent at the development on Lincoln Avenue to bid on the units, which included floor plans with two, three and four bedrooms. In bidding that lasted for two hours, bidders snapped up all 20 of the two-bedroom units available, as well as four three-bedroom units and two four-bedroom units. Rob Howland, Capstone’s chief operating officer, agreed that the auction attracted a strong crowd. “One of the attractions of an auction is that people have a very good chance to get a good buy, and there were some great buys today. We felt we had a very good turnout and got good results considering today’s sluggish real estate market,” said Howland.
